IVC Media Selected as Finalist for AV Awards

Leading systems integrator IVC Media, has today announced it has been short-listed for the prestigious AV awards for the category of AV/IT integration project of the year. The entry was for IVC’s work to complete the unified AV, IT and Telecoms communications system for the entire Tortuga Beach Resort & Spa complex, on the Cape Verde Island of Sal, off the coast of West Africa. IVC was contracted to design and build a state-of-the-art centralised AV, IT, IPTV, IP-CCTV, WiFi and access control management infrastructure using the latest point-to-multi-point fibre technology. Also integrated onto the network was a full hotel hospitality system including multifunction VOIP and Dect telephones, voice mail, room service and integrated billing to the whole resort.

Owned by The Resort Group, Tortuga Beach Resort & Spa consists of a variety of bars and restaurants, pools and relaxation areas, a beach club, gymnasium, shops, 52 villas, 306 apartments, hotel suites and a state-of-the-art Sol Meliá brand Yhi spa. The entire Resort is operated by the largest resort hotel group on the planet, Sol Meliá, under its luxury 5-Star MELIÁ brand.

“IVC has created every element of a complete working unified communications system that is easy to manage and maintain, achieving The Resort Group’s vision of a future-proofed, high bandwidth capacity network that supplies multiple services to the entire resort while maintaining optimum performance,” explains Ray Harding, chairman of IVC Media. “The fibre network is based on passive optical networks, alleviating the need for costly power sources situated across the resort complex, the total system can be remotely monitored from almost anywhere in the world. By engaging with the client IVC has conceptualised, designed and delivered a truly sophisticated, system that provides an insight into future opportunities for the AV industry.”

The winners of the AV awards will be announced at a gala dinner on 30 September at the Hilton, Park Lane, London. For further information about the AV Awards please see: www.avawards.com
